Aims to Contribute to the Betterment of Environment

Bondhu Chula Programme aims to contribute to the betterment of our environment and tackle the adverse effects of climate change by partnering with local organizations, business houses, community leaders, development agencies and neighbors, creating a clean and safe living and working condition. The programme supports access to modern cooking energy by promoting the sustainable production, marketing, installation and use of Bondhu Chula. Through this approach stove producers, installers and traders are trained in technical, marketing and entrepreneurship skills. First, the approach was dependent on Partner organizations and some private enterprises. The Partner organizations organize technical training for ICS manufacturers, produce and disseminate promotional materials, collect orders for ICS from the potential customers and assign the orders to the trained manufacturers. The Partner organizations are aiming at building up a financially viable ICS business. Again the program underwent a reorientation process, leading to a new approach that focuses more on the involvement of rural entrepreneurs and businesses, locally known as “Sanitary Shops”, instead of NGOs.
